PET/AL/PE is the industry standard for specialty coffee. PET (polyethylene terephthalate) provides structural rigidity. AL (aluminum foil) provides oxygen and moisture barrier. PE (polyethylene) provides the heat-seal layer. This structure meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 for food-contact polyethylene.
